Lisa Harvey's latest CEO Wrapup

"Wrapup" sounds like things are finished and we are at the end of a journey, but it is a catchier title than "report from along the way".

It as been an incredible few months for me personally and the team have made some great achievements too.

We've launched several Intranets for clients and only one new public site (www.workventures.com.au) so most of our recent work is not visible. We are used to being able to show off your work, but we can't this time.

I was lucky enough to have 4 weeks leave and travelled around the US. Not all holiday thought. I was able to meet up with a couple of people who work hard for non-profit technology in the US. John Kenyon is an advisor to not-for-profits and some of you will know him from seminars he ran in Australia last year. I also met with Jody Mahoney from the Anita Borg Institute who was one of the Keynote speakers at the Connecting Up Conference in May. It is always useful to hear how things are done in other places. I also got to talk with the Web Manager for the Federal Aviation Administration. He works in Washington DC and manages the content and web interface for the FAA, a government agency with 43000 employees. His insights into getting people to "get" how web technology can help were really useful.

The thing that has taken most of my time recently is the Government 2.0 Taskforce. This is an incredible opportunity for me to make a contribution to public policy. I have been able to meet with many people in the roadshow events and other events I've attended. The brief for the Taskforce is to examine access to public sector information as well as how government engages with people online. The scope is broad and the possibilities are exciting. I've been impressed at the quality of the debate and the ideas that people have for improving government openness. The Taskforce has 3 months to run and a lot of work to do. I feel privileged to be a part of it.

If you have any ideas or contributions that you think might be useful please send them to me or add them as a comment on the Taskforce Blog.

So to "wrap up", it is exhilerating at the moment!

Lisa
