Workventures - a model client for a total website rebuild!
We are proud to announce our latest site is for the fantastic people at WorkVentures - an Australian not-for-profit social enterprise, giving people and communities the capacity to create good lives for themselves, through new skills, access to technology and fulfilling traineeships and employment. Building a website is a partnership and there are many factors in making such a project a successful and enjoyable experience for both client and developer.
The best thing about this project and site was that the people at WorkVentures, from the CEO down, took their sites redevelopment very seriously. This meant that we had the client commitment we needed to totally revamp their old uninspiring wordy site into something fresh and much more user friendly. So what key factors enabled this to happen?

MS Excel is bad for non profit data collection
Many non profits use Excel to collect and sort data yet it fails when it comes to complex data analysis and large numbers of entries. These organisations may start using excel through lack of having any other suitable alternative or when their organisation was smaller in size. Most will find however that as their organisation grows or even as they try to analyse their data further than basic numbers, that Excel does not cut it.
OneWebDay - September 22
We recently received an email from Vicky Pinpin-Feinstein about OneWebDay. Vicky now lives in Australia after moving here from Washington in January. Vicky was involved in OneWebDay in the US and is keen to continue her involvement here in Australia.
OneWebDay is held annually on September 22, and it provides an opportunity for communities to celebrate the power of the Web for positive change, to take action to protect what is precious about it, and to educate the public and policy-makers on key social, economic, and political Web issues.
Lisa Harvey Appointed to Government 2.0 Taskforce
Last week at the Publicsphere event in Canberra. Lindsay Tanner, Minister for Finance and Deregulation announced the formation of the Government 2.0 Taskforce.The brief of the Taskforce is to look at digital engagement by the Federal Government and the issues relating to openness around Public sector information. This is a broad brief and both issues are incredibly timely.
Lisa Harvey, Energetica's CEO, was appointed to the Taskforce. Asked to contribute as a private citizen, Taskforce members bring incredible experience and expertise to the table. Lisa is hoping to make a positive contribution to the deliberations of the Taskforce from her experience with on-line community building and Non-profit community engagement.
