New Website for Tobacco Control
Wednesday, 27 August 2008

The Framework Convention Alliance engaged Energetica to build a new website to help them communicate the work they do to administer the International Treaty for Tobacco Control. The vision of the Framework Convention Alliance is  "Working for a world free from the death and disease caused by tobacco." It is a cause that the Energetica team is proud to support.

The website is built with Joomla! and is another example of the flexibility and the strength of Joomla! in building websites for NGOs and non-profit organisations.  The FCTC Site already has substantial content about the treaty and the work of the FCA, and includes a directory of FCA members.

Homelessness Clearinghouse Launched
Tuesday, 12 August 2008

After 6 month hard work by the Energetica team the Homelessness InformatioN Clearinghouse www.homelessnessinfo.net.au was launched yesterday in Newcastly. The Minister for Housing, Tanya Plibersek, launched the site with the press of a button at the YAA conference.

The Clearinghouse is a repository of information on all aspects of homelessness in Australia. Energetica won the contract to build and maintain the site. The site is launched with over 400 items of content including articles and documents.

In addition to information the site contains a number of tools and strategies for developing communities in the homelessness sector and getting site visitors to participate. For example, site visitors can submit content to the site and add comments to articles. Discussion groups are anothe opportunity for participation.

Communities of Practice allow groups of people with common interest and the need to share expertise to create a community. Using simple website technologies to get people to participate the Communities of Practice will help reduce the isolation that some people working in the field can experience.

Energetica has released a media release. The Ministers office has also released a media release.

The Spastic Centre Blogs
Thursday, 10 July 2008

With the help of Energetica, The Spastic Centre has created 4 new blogs. These blogs are being written by people who have different perspectives on living with Cerebral Palsy (CP). One blog focuses on technology, inlcuding social networks and virtual worlds. Another blog is by a woman with CP discussing her social life. The third Blog gives a family perspective by a father of a child with CP. The final blog provides news and events for the CP community.

Energetica built the blogs using Joomla technology. It enables a shared administration capacity and the ability for The Spastic Centre to standardise the presentation of content.
